NOVA is a modular battery free bike light system, which you can combine however you like. The lights are powered by a contactless rim dynamo, which works by Eddy currents and requires no magnets mounted on the wheel.

Description

What is Eddy Current?

Eddy Current is an electric current induced by a changing magnetic field in a conductor such as an aluminum rim. This creates a magnetic field, which can be utilised to power a bike light. It almost seems like magic but with an Eddy current rim dynamo there is no need to mount magnets on the rim and the dynamo does not even have to touch!

Modular System

NOVA is available for head tube, basket, seat post and luggage carrier mounting. When combined with the Contactless Rim Dynamo™ the lights deliver up to 60 lumens. All the lights comes with integrated E approved reflexes for added safety.

ReeMount™

The dynamo is mounted with ReeMount™ – a straightforward and secure wire system that makes positioning the dynamo faster and easier than ever before. The wire is made from coated stainless steel, ensuring a strong mount and minimising the risk of breakage or theft. The dynamo can be mounted on the fork and on the seat stay and will fit most types of bikes with the exception of mountain bikes with suspension forks.

ReePower™ Flash

NOVA comes with ReePower™ Flash - a backup system, which makes the lights flash for two minutes when at a standstill. The system automatically shifts from constant light, when slowing down, and starts flashing instead.

full carbon road bike design magnetic light

Hi, I use reelight magnetic light from 10 years ago, on all my city bikes, it's great. I always use rechargeable lights on mtb and road bike, and I'm bored of recharging, when you will make a nice little light for road bikes please thank you very much.

Thanks a lot Miquelangel! We will take your suggestion into consideration :)

Funktioniert bestens

Vielen Dank, Laura!

Superb lights for daily commuting and transport in the UK

I installed the Nova front and rear lights on my head tube and rear luggage rack last week and have been using them for daily commuting and other urban/interurban trips.

The delivery, packaging, instructions and hardware are all of superb quality. Installation was remarkably easy and all four mounts (lights and dynamos) have been rock solid so far. It took me just a couple of minutes to fine-tune the dynamo spacing from my rims to avoid rubbing.

I am absolutely delighted with the rear light, which performs even better than I had hoped. I have great confidence that I will always be visible both from directly behind and from my 4 o’ clock through to 8 o’ clock positions. The stand light function also exceeds my expectations - it definitely runs for more than two minutes. I think every bike should have one of these rear lights.

The front light on the other hand has a much narrower beam and is much less visible from most angles. I understand this focused beam is probably necessary to ensure visibility from 300+ metres in line with the Danish regulations. I have not fully tested it in dark conditions but I am concerned about visibility from 10 o’ clock and 2 o’ clock positions, for example cars turning into my path from side roads. This is accurately shown in Reelight’s product video, but I think it might be worth adding a note explaining or clarifying this aspect of how the front light works in the Reelight marketing. However, I plan to continue using my helmet light in combination with the Nova lights most of the time, so this should not affect my safety at all.

The concept of fully automatic, set-and-forget lighting was extremely attractive to me, as a daily cyclist who wants maximum simplicity and reliability. The Nova lights are a logical element of my ideal commuter setup, combined with a carbon belt drive, internal gear hub, Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres and a U-lock mounted on the frame. I just start pedalling and boom, the lights are on. I just park the bike and after a few minutes, the lights are off.

Overall, I think Nova is a fantastic system and great value compared with much more expensive hub dynamo setups. Based on the build quality I believe it will last for many years. I am super happy with my purchase. Thank you Reelight!

Thanks a lot for your kind words and feedback Sam!

Very cool light

Very cool system, got the front light set at one of internet stores during winter sales for less then 40 including delivery. Waiting for snow to melt to go outside to test it. Please note that your need to make your rim flat to avoid scratching and make good and steady dynamo and rim contact.

Thanks a lot Mikey!

Nova

Merci
The front lamp gives 60 lumens not enough to see well, but ok to be seen.
Does the 700 series light more than the Nova and how many lumens?
Can we have the headlight alone with the dynamo magnets and cable, on the 700 series?
Series 700 continuous headlight?
Thanks

Thank you Bouges. The output of the RL700 front light is roughly the same as on NOVA.
